Education:

The following educational programs are conducted in Darul Uloom New York, Inc.:

A. Naazra (Reciting the Quraan):
Students are taught the basic reading and recitation of the Quran with Tajweed Students are also taught the principles of tajweed so as to facilitate their memorizing of the Quran correctly and thoroughly



B. Hifzul-Quran (Memorization of the Glorious Quraan):
Students are taught how to memorize the Quran with proper Tajweed (pronunciation). Special emphasis is placed on learning the rules of tajweed while they are memorizing. There is also a separate ustaad (teacher) for those Huffaz who have finished their memorization of Quran and are presently studying in the Aalim course.

This special class is geared towards preparing them to lead the Taraweeh salaat in Ramadhan. The ustaad for this class also conducts the periodic tests that the Hifz students are required to pass after memorizing each section (juz) of the Quraan.



C. Aalim Course: Students are taught the Islamic sciences in detail. The course covers such subjects as: Arabic grammar (Surf and Nahw), Aqeedah, Fiqh, Usoolul-Fiqh, Hadeeth, Usoolul-Hadeeth, Tafseer, etc

The full course is actually a 7-year course, the first five years being offered and taught at Darul Uloom, before going on for higher studies elsewhere.



D. Schooling/Academics: Side-by-side with the Hifz-ul-Quraan, Naazraa and Aalim courses, we provide SCHOOLING of required academic subjects from the 3rd grade to the 10th grade levels.

The subjects of MATH, ENGLISH, SCIENCE, and SOCIAL STUDIES are taught by qualified Muslim teachers. For weaker students, an ESL (English as a second language) course is also taught. Moreover, a GED/SAT-preparation course and tutoring is available for students above the 10th grade level.
